TAPE IN RELAY PASSING ZONES

The question always comes up if you can put a piece of tape in the relay passing zones. This is left to meet management in the rules.

Here is our ruling for this year: You may put tape down in the lane, BUT IT MUST HAVE THE NAME OF YOUR SCHOOL ON THE TAPE. If the name of your school is not on the piece of tape, they will not be allowed to use it.

After the event, you then have ten minutes to get each piece of tape you put down OFF OF THE TRACK. If this is not done, your school will be disqualified from the event.

The people who run the track at Bangor insist that all such tape is removed from the track and this is the most efficient way to ensure that this is done. A SIMPLE WAY TO ENSURE THAT IT IS DONE IS TO INSTRUCT YOUR INCOMING RUNNER FOR THAT ZONE TO PICK UP THE TAPE AFTER HE/SHE PASSES THE BATON.
